Minesweeper rules
1. Board — a grid of hidden cells covering mines. 2. Click to reveal — uncover a cell. 3. Number clue — if safe, a number shows mines in adjacent cells (0–8). 4. Flag mines — right-click to flag suspected mines. 5. Win — reveal all non-mine cells. 6. Lose — click a mine; game over.
Difficulty levels
- Beginner — 9×9 board, 10 mines. Easy for learning.
- Intermediate — 16×16 board, 40 mines. Medium challenge.
- Expert — 30×16 board, 99 mines. Hard, requires advanced logic.
Strategy
- Numbers are clues — a "3" means exactly 3 adjacent mines.
- Empty cells — 0 mines adjacent. Cascade reveals many cells.
- Mark and reason — flag cells, then deduce from numbers.
- Isolated regions — focus on one area first, then expand.
Tips
- First click is safe — the board generates after your first move.
- Work from edges — borders have fewer adjacent cells, easier to deduce.
- Probability guessing — when stuck, pick the cell with fewest adjacent mines.
